The story
Lohit's inspiration for this artwork emerged from a fascination with Asian culture, particularly the rich visual traditions of Bali. The Barong, a revered guardian figure often depicted in the eternal struggle between good and evil, became the perfect subject for his kaleidoscopic process. By repeating and reflecting elements of traditional masks, murals and cultural motifs, he creates a new perspective on an ancient story. The work reflects his ongoing exploration of symmetry, cultural symbolism and the hidden relationships that emerge when familiar images are viewed through a different lens.
Supplied with a serialised Ivory & Ink certificate of authenticity and framed in the UK by a Guild Certified framer.
Inspired by the sacred Barong of Balinese culture, The Guardian of Balance celebrates the harmony between opposing forces. The artwork transforms a traditional symbol of protection into a captivating contemporary composition. The result is both dynamic and meditative, inviting viewers to explore balance, strength and interconnectedness.
