Isma J. Rafiq is a British artist and illustrator based in Yorkshire. She studied Accessory Design at London College of Fashion, University of the Arts London, following earlier studies in art, textiles and photography. After a career within the fashion industry, including at Burberry, she returned to developing her own creative practice.
Her work is shaped by a lifelong fascination with fashion, illustration and the slightly unconventional. Drawing on bold silhouettes, expressive form and a theatrical sensibility, Isma creates work that feels both playful and quietly otherworldly.
Her two collections explore distinctly different visual worlds: the monochromatic, striped figures of Underwater Love and the luminous Majorelle blue, decorative ceramics and ghost-like cacti of My Jorelle Blues.
