Portrait of artist Natasha Kumar

Natasha Kumar is a British Indian printmaker whose original, hand-drawn work spans monotype, woodcut, etching, screenprint and lithograph — techniques she has studied and refined over three decades to ensure every piece is a first-generation original.

Art and India run through her heritage: her English mother's family includes a line of fine figurative painters, while her father's side traces to Kashmir and Afghanistan by way of Partition. She earned a place in the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition at seventeen, her etchings hung alongside work by her own grandfather and uncle.

She holds a first-class degree in printmaking from Manchester, studied printmaking and anatomy at the Venice Accademia, and completed an MA in printmaking at Camberwell, where she won the London Printmaking Prize. She went on to establish her own print workshop in Camberwell, building an international collector base over two decades of exhibitions and art fairs.

Her work has shown at the Royal Geographical Society, Asia House and Saatchi, and in more unconventional spaces including the Heathrow VIP Lounge, with recent collaborations including Harrods and Tilda. She divides her time between a rural studio, her London practice, and regular working trips to India, gathering the colour and detail that runs through every piece.
