The story
For over 20 years, Santhana Krishnan has drawn inspiration from the doors of India, which hold the character, history and daily life of the people who pass through them. In Door 1947, he gives the same doorway a different personality and mood in each colourway. For Santhana, every door is a threshold between the seen and the unseen, and we invite you to imagine the stories waiting on the other side.
Supplied with a serialised Ivory & Ink certificate of authenticity and framed in the UK by a Guild Certified framer.
Door 1947 is a mixed-media work on wood which turns the humble Indian doorway into a vivid, layered piece of art. Rich in colour and texture, each work is a unique edition that draws you toward the threshold and invites you to look closer.
Mixed media on wood, 2026. Image size 30.48 × 45.72 cm (12 × 18 in). Unique, 1 of 1.
