Artist Profile: Dinesh Magar

Dinesh P. Magar is a Bangalore-based artist and one of the foremost practitioners of contemporary metal art in India. For over three decades he has developed a wholly original practice: hand etching and enamelling on brass and copper, embellished with Swarovski crystals, rooted in Indian mythology and sacred tradition.

Each work undergoes a proprietary thirty-stage process — from iconographic research and hand sketching through precision etching, enamel coloration, crystal embellishment, and controlled industrial firing — producing luminous, museum-quality objects at the intersection of traditional craft, fine art, and collectible luxury.

A graduate of Karnataka Chitrakala Parishath College of Fine Arts, his practice has earned recognition from the Government of Karnataka (Suvarna Shri State Award), the Governor of Karnataka, and senior cultural figures including artist Dr. Svetoslav Roerich. His solo exhibition — Heaven Sent at Gallery G, Bangalore — established his reputation with institutional and private collectors.
